A seed, a sword and a fire. One brings forth new life. One cuts deeply. One is a greater force than we could imagine. All describe God's Word.
These things don't describe a list of 'do's and do not's'. Nor do they describe a self-help book. But they do describe God's Word, the Bible. The Bible is a story: the story of God's interaction with humanity, how humanity left him, and the lengths he will go to in restoring the relationship.
The New Testament, the second part of the Bible, records God's continued efforts to restore that relationship. It is the ancient account of the life of a Jewish man named Jesus and the lives of his followers. As interesting as their story is, its even more interesting when placed in the context of the rest of the Bible.
Figuring out Colorado Springs is a similar situation. Zebulon Pike's name is scattered throughout this town, including our region's most famous landmark. Yet he never ascended to the top of the mountain that bears his name. It's easy to miss the subtleties, even the whole point.
In addition to historical context, the community of the local church aids the understanding of the Bible. We have provided a church locator to help you find a group of Christians meeting in your neighborhood.
The Bible is not understood merely for the sake of understanding. It is about finding your place in this on going story. Click here to see the stories of two people here in Colorado Springs who have found their place in God's story.
